Bambual Editora Portugal Cookies hereinafter referred to as Bambual Portugal

Bambual Portugal, like many other websites and apps, uses small information files called “cookies” that enhance your user experience. Below, we inform you about them and explain how to configure them. This page contains information about what cookies are, the types of cookies that exist, the cookies that Bambual Portugal uses, how to disable cookies in your browser, how to specifically disable third-party cookies for ads, and other useful informative links on this topic. We have tried to explain all the important points simply and clearly: if you feel we have missed something, please contact us by writing to editora@bambualportugal.pt with “Cookies” in the subject line.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a web server installs on your computer or mobile phone through your browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari) or through a Flash application. Each cookie is unique, and only the server that installed it can read its content. The content of a cookie is anonymous (e.g., a unique identifier, the name of the website, and some digits). Cookies allow websites and apps to remember you, whether for the duration of a visit (through so-called “session cookies”) or across several visits (through so-called “persistent cookies”), and store information about your preferences to offer a personalized, easier, and faster experience. Some websites and apps also use cookies to show you ads based, for example, on your location or browsing habits. Finally, cookies can be installed by the website or app you are visiting (called “first-party cookies”) or by other websites whose content is executed on the site or app you are visiting (called “third-party cookies”).

Types of cookies

FIRST-PARTY COOKIES

These are installed by the website or app you are visiting; only that website or app can read their content.

THIRD-PARTY COOKIES

These are installed by an organization other than the owner of the website or app you are visiting. An example is services like Google Analytics, which install their own cookie to collect data and create statistics about the website’s or app’s performance and usage. Other organizations that may install their own cookies on the site you are visiting include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and any third-party content embedded in the website you’re visiting. Third-party cookies can also be installed by an ad service to display ads based on data like your location or browsing preferences. These cookies may also track your browsing across multiple websites.

SESSION COOKIES

Session cookies are stored temporarily during a browsing session and are deleted from your computer or mobile phone when you close your browser.

PERSISTENT COOKIES

These cookies are installed for a fixed period (usually a year or more) and are not deleted when you close your computer. They store information that applies from one session to another, such as remembering your preferences for the next time you access the website or app.

FLASH COOKIES

Many websites use Adobe Player to display videos or games. In this case, Adobe installs its own cookie, not through your browser but through Adobe Flash Player. You can configure all cookies, regardless of type, either from your computer’s preferences or from Adobe’s website.

Bambual Portugal incorporates cookies to offer you the best browsing experience and content that may interest you most. They are not used to collect personal information.

Why do we use them?

ANALYTICS COOKIES

Bambual Portugal uses the Google Analytics analytical service to collect data such as the number of visits, the average time spent on a visit, or which pages were most visited. The third-party cookie that enables this tracking is used solely for statistical purposes and does not collect personal data unless you are a registered user of Bambual Portugal, in which case the data you provided during registration is collected, including your username and email (your password remains confidential and is known only to you). Google Analytics is used by many websites to optimize their pages and offer content that might interest you, but if you do not want it to store data about your browsing, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (instructions on how to do this are provided in the last section of the cookie policy).

REGISTRATION COOKIES

When you register on Bambual Portugal, a cookie is generated indicating whether you have logged in. Our server uses this cookie to know which account you are logged into and if that account gives you access to a particular service. It also allows us to associate comments you post with your username. The registration cookie is a session cookie and is deleted when you close your browser.

THIRD-PARTY COOKIES

Some organizations outside the ownership of Bambual Portugal may install third-party cookies on certain pages when necessary to provide their services. This is the case, for example, with Facebook, Twitter, or Google+: when you share content from our website through one of the buttons, the action is registered by the social network that created the button.

ADVERTISING COOKIES

These cookies store information about user behavior, obtained by continuously observing your browsing habits, allowing us to develop a specific profile to present advertising based on it.

Typically, they are managed by third parties that manage the advertising spaces users see when accessing our site or our ads on third-party sites. These cookies enable, among other things, measuring the effectiveness of our online campaigns, providing users with information of interest, offering advertising content related to their browsing profile, and limiting the number of ads shown to each user.

According to their own policies, some advertising managers may use anonymous cookies to display ads of interest to you when visiting other websites, cross-referencing user information they have collected from your browsing on our site or other sites managed by third parties. The types of advertising cookies that may be used in your case are informed through the Cookie Configurator.

PREFERENCE OR PERSONALIZATION COOKIES

These cookies remember information that allows the user to access the service with certain features that differentiate their experience from other users, such as language, the number of results shown when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service based on the type of browser used to access the service, or the region from which the user accesses the service.

How to configure cookies

All cookies, except Flash cookies, can be managed from your browser, typically in the “options” or “preferences” section. You can completely disable them, in which case your browser will not allow any to be installed, or only allow those from certain websites. This latter option is a good way to enjoy advanced features on websites that respect your data privacy, like Bambual Portugal, while excluding those that do not. All browsers have a Help section that will explain how to manage cookies. You can find instructions for the most commonly used browsers in the links provided in the last section of the cookie policy.

If you want to eliminate ads generated by third-party cookies, you also have the option of installing a plugin like Adblock on your browser to block ads. Finally, you can manage the cookies installed by Adobe Flash Player from Adobe’s website.
